Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK 140 Drophead Coupe (DHC)

The car had been with the same owner since the 1970's, prior to my purchasing it.

The last time it was on the road was 1996.The previous owner modified the rear clip to one of a roadster, for aesthetic reasons only. The chassis is very straight, no signs of any accidents at all. The work that was done for this modification was done in an excellent and proper manner.

The car does not come with a convertible top frame. The car has a brand new Bartlett upholstery kit with new foam, it is in the box not installed. Chrome is presentable it is pitted. Paint is presentable, a few spots where it is flaking. Engine was restarted by by-passing the gas tank. The engine runs well good oil pressure. When the engine is warm it smokes a little it may need a head gasket. Brakes need to be rebuilt. The tonneau cover has a small rip. It is not a matching numbers car. A good car for someone looking to perform the mechanical work and enjoy as is. The wire wheels have rust on them. All the gauges are present and in good condition. It will need a fuel pump. I have a department of motor vehicles registration and letter from the state, stating the car, because of its age, does not have nor is it required to have a title. Not matching numbers.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
