A splendid XK140 roadster with the now celebrated 3,4 L engine with the type C head delivering an impressive 210 hp. Of American origin the vehicle was imported to France to undergo restoration. This was completed in by British Motors (Paris) who were the French Aston-Martin importers at the time.

The natural lines of the XK 140 roadster are underscored by an extremely desirable colour combination. The paintwork has developed a slight patina and we were able to note some minor faults such as a small crack on the passenger door and another slightly larger one just beneath the rear boot handle. Not withstanding these faults the paintwork is overall of excellent quality and the upholstery in perfect condition as are the chromes and soft top. The rear bumper over-riders are not visible in the photos as they have been removed by the owner for purely aesthetic reasons but are included with the vehicle as are a tonneau cover and the side screens. It is also fitted with stainless steel exhausts which provides complete driver satisfaction.

This is indeed a rare Type C roadster which would require a very investment to be brought up to concourse condition. Available in southern France with Belgian registration.

The owner of this vehicle will consider offers for a partial or total exchange against another quality collectable.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
