    Car was at auction 10/07

    Auction description:
    Model XK150S FHC
    First Registered 1961
    Registration No OSU133
    Engine No VAS1271-9
    Chassis No T825324DN
    MOT Oct 2008
    Colour Sherwood Green
    Details
Offered on behalf of the estate, this XK150S was bought new by the vendors father and passed on to his mother on his fathers death. It has been stored in an underground garage for around three years but has now been recommisioned and MoT tested by AJC Classics, for presentation at the next the 23rd October sale. The car now has a re-cored radiator, new Dunlop cross-ply tyres and has been MoT tested for one year.

The car left Browns Lane in September 1960 and was supplied to the Main Jaguar Distributor, Henlys London who carried out a dealer transfer to Field Engineering of Crawley, who then sold the car to Zygmont (Bond Street) Ltd. The car is being offered by the first registered owners son.

The car is still finished in the original Sherwood green with suede green hide but has benefited from restoration, during the late eighties, after a returning from Cyprus, where it had been kept since 1975. Estimates and bills for the restoration are included in the history file, which also contains a copy of the original Log Book and a duplicate of the original Cypriot registration booklet. The file also shows that the car was re-imported into the UK in September 1988 and was initially put on an age related registration number. Copies of the correspondence with the DoT in 1988 and 1989 show that the car was eventually reunited with the original number, which is being retained by the vendor as it has great sentimental value.

This is a genuine 150S, which is equipped with the 3.8 litre, 9 to 1 compression, XK engine and 4 speed, manual transmission, which has the optional and very rare, manual overdrive selector ahead of the gear lever and equally rare, reclining seats. The car has been in the ownership of Dr. Sygmund Scieczko and his wife from new. The indicated 57,000 miles is thought to be correct and the car is in excellent, predominately original, condition.

This very late XK150, is one of just 23 FHC built in 1960 and one of just two 3.8 "S" specified cars know to still exist. A very rare opportunity.

Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
    Estimate £30000-40000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
