    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1958-Jaguar-XK150-DHC-LHD-3-4-Litre-Fully-restored-/300893388 ...
Classified ad price: £100,000. 4.2k miles reported.

    Sellers description:
    1958 Jaguar XK150 DHC LHD 3.4 Litre

    Chassis number S837232
Registration: UK plate being applied for.

This car underwent a chassis off nut & bolt restoration five years ago. Since then it has covered a nominal 4000 miles. I collected the car from the owner in Germany & drove it back via Calais. It drove faultlessly & showed an unruffled indicated 180KMH on the famed Jabbeke straight where Jaguar conducted speed tests in the '50's. The car drives effotlessly being completely composed at high speed with the taut tight feel of a new car.

The car was nut & bolt restored by the previous engineer owner who farmed out different bits of the work to different specialists whilst keeping a photographic record of the Restoration. The body was removed from the chassis & both made like new with every single bit of rot & corrosion being removed & new metal let in prior to the two being re-united. The donor car was rescued from a Californian barn where it had slumbered for a number of years.

The exterior is finished in Bright red with the paint being in flawless condition. To the interior is Black leather piped in red. The leather dash has been replaced with a burr walnut item as is the gear knob. Black carpets & a black Mohair hood finish the trim off; the hood being lined in beige wool cloth. Chrome wire wheels adorn the four corners.

The brief during the restoration was to make the car as drivable as possible. Thus the original Moss box has been discarded in favor of a brand new Getrag unit boasting five forward speeds & making the car a very relaxed cruiser. The car has occasional rear seats suitable for small children & are equipped with seat belts.

This is a car that has had a fortune spent on it & all the teething troubles of a fresh restoration ironed out. It is ready for every day use or extensive continental touring. We also have a LDH Concourse XK140 DHC (pale green leather) & 120 DHC (biscuit Leather) coming from the same collection in British Racing Green. These will be with us in about a months time.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
