Car to be at auction 1/14
    www.russoandsteele.com/collector-car/1959-Jaguar-150/76302

    Auction description:
    Scottsdale 2014
    Consignment # 7580
    VIN: S834573BW

This is a beautiful 1959 Jaguar XK150 FHC presented in Old English White over Navy Blue leather interior and blue Wilton wool carpets. This XK150 is an excellent example of one of the most iconic sports to come out of Europe. The car has been in a very long term collection the past few decades in Oklahoma City and has absolutely no rust or corrosion. The car has its original Jaguar built straight 6 twin cam engine and has recently undergone a full comprehensive re-commission. The carbs have been rebuilt and tuned, the gas tank has been removed, treated and resealed, new plugs, wires, and all fluids. A brand new Wilton wool carpet kit was just put into the car, but still retains its original wool headliner and chrome. This XK still retains its original chrome wire wheels and has fairly new tires. The car is an excellent example of one of Jaguar's greatest sports cars and would make a perfect addition to any collection.

    Ebay item 2/7/14

Car has a buy it now price of $46,995 for 20 days. Car now said to be in Mesa, Arizona. Appears it may have not sold at above R&S auction as it isn' t listed in the results.

    Sellers description:
European Motor Studio is proud to offer this beautiful 1959 Jaguar XK150 SE Fixed Head Coupe' in Old English White over Navy blue hides. This XK150 has a 3.4 litre straight 6 clyinder twin cam engine in SE configuration and carries a 4-speed manual gearbox. This car was invoiced to North America where it was delivered to its first owner in 1959. This XK shows 26,250 miles on the odometer, I can't guarantee it but the mileage is believed to be correct. The car has lived in the West coast its entire life and then moved to Oklahoma City with a private collector sometime in the late 70's or early 80's. This XK was put into dry storage living in a large collection of cars where it sat until recently emerging. The car came to AZ where we re-commissioned it, taking apart the carburetors and having them professionally rebuilt. We installed new plugs and wires, cleaned out the fuel tank, replaced belts and fuel hoses and sorted through the electrical components. The car is currently running very well and idles beautifully without any hesitation or problems. The car does not smoke on start-up and is free from any misses or backfiring. The car has a wonderful amount smooth power and shifts through all four gears very well without any hesitation or grinding. The clutch feels solid and does not slip or hesitate in any of the gears. All of the electrical components have been sorted through and everything is currently working. The headlights, brake lights, turn signals, side marker lights and interior dash lights are all functioning. All of the gauges appear to be reading correctly except the fuel gauge which is a little finicky, it will ready correctly then drop to empty. Two brand new 6 volt batteries have just been installed as well as a new starter and ignition. All of the fluids have been flushed out and replaced along with a new electric fan for the radiator. This XK rides on its original Jaguar wire spoke wheels and period correct Goodyear tube style tires. The Old English White paint looks to be a much older repaint of its original color. The paint is in very nice condition showing a very nice luster to it and free from any damage or fading. All of the chrome appears to be completely original and in very good condition. Some lite pitting here and there but for its age it looks excellent. The body is exceptionally straight and dent and ding free. The rockers all look to be original and rust free as does the under carriage of the car. The lower doors also appear to be rust free except on the body of the car where the lower doors meet the body, there is the slightest bit of surface rust starting. There are no holes or heavy rusting just very minimal surface rust in that one specific area. The interior looks to be 100% original, the blue leather interior is still in very good shape showing minimal cracking and the original Wilton Wool carpets are all in very nice shape. The dashboard appears to be original and free from any cracks or damage, the instrument cluster is all original and still shows very well. The wool headliner is completely correct and original and is free from any stains or damage. All of the original switches and trim pieces are still intact and in excellent condition. The steering wheel is correct factory steering wheel for the XK and does show some cracking but still in nice original condition. Overall this XK150 FHC is in excellent original condition and would make for an outstanding driver. These 150 FHC's are getting harder and harder to find to especially in mostly original condition.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
