Car to be at auction 7/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 146 - 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drop Head Coupe
146 - 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drop Head Coupe
Estimate: £45,000 - £50,000
Registration Number: 368 BGN
Chassis Number: S827320DN
The XK150 on offer here is an original matching numbers example which was first registered in Clapham, London, on the 9th April 1959, to a Mr. Bernard Wallace Inskipp Fuddle.
368 BGN was later subject to a major frame off restoration in 2000 at a cost of over £60,000, with subsequent spend in the current ownership totalling a further £15,000. Other than a full and detailed body restoration, the engine was rebuilt by Guy Broad, which included the fitting of new pistons, crankshaft and valves. The block was enlarged from 3.4 to 3.8 litres, and fitted with triple 2" SU carburettors. The uprated engine breathes through a full stainless exhaust system.
The suspension was replaced with adjustable shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar, the brakes uprated with discs all round and the transmission was overhauled with a new axle and uprated five-speed Getrag gearbox. Lastly the electrical system was uprated to 12 volts, and fitted with an alternator and electronic ignition to improve reliability.
To finish off the package, the car is finished in British Racing Green with a retrimmed interior in Burgundy leather, new chrome wire wheels and Pirelli p6000 tyres.
This car was built to be driven, and as such has been used and enjoyed in tours and club rallies across the UK and Europe. Described by its current owner as being in excellent all-round condition, this XK offers the new owner a rare treat, a beautiful looking car which is also extremely well-sorted and proven on long distance tours and holidays.
Supplied with the current V5 plus original buff logbook, current and previous MoT certificates, a thick file of invoices for work completed, and also original Jaguar owner's manual, 368 BGN presents superb opportunity to buy a visually stunning example, which can also be driven long distances with confidence.
