Sellers description:
Arriving soon! According to Jaguar's factory records this Jaguar XK150 DHC - Chassis No: S827194DN was built on 19th August 1958 and was despatched to Jaguar Distributor Henly's in London on 15th September 1958. It is a 'matching numbers' car although the original Engine was replaced with a new 3.8 litre Engine by Jaguar in November 1960 and this is recorded on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Unfortunately very little is known of its early history, but according to the DVLA records it was exported from new and then brought back to the UK and registered on 5th November 1979 with VXM 500 which is a 1958 number issued by Henlys in London. It was sold in 1987 and the well known specialist Ken Bell completed a full mechanical rebuild and Jaguar specialist Martin Smith Ltd of Aylesbury completed a 'body-off' chassis rebuild. Over £32,000 was spent on these works and there are supporting invoices and some photographs. Since then, the car has only covered a total of 11,000 miles. The previous owner purchased the car in December 2004 and he has spent a further £35,000 on various upgrades including Electric Power Steering, Getrag 5 Speed Gearbox, uprated Disc Brakes, Suspension, Stainless Steel Exhaust System, Stainless Steel Wire Wheels, a complete new Leather interior with wool carpets, a custom made Hood & Hood Cover and all chrome-work either replaced or re-chromed. He has also fitted a 'Brantz' Trip-Meter and a 'Tracker'. The car has always been stored in a controlled environment since the initial rebuild and we have MOT'd and serviced the car for him during his ownership. This really is a stunning example which is exceptionally nice to drive, particularly with the electric power steering and it really must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated. Perfect for touring this summer! Further details including asking price to follow upon arrival at the end of March 2015

In my opinion only the chassis (number) could be correct (photo?) for this "1958" car, the body and engine are from an early 1960 car (handbrake on the left of the gear tunnel, last heater model with correct hood, data plate on the bulkhead)
It still is a nice car.

Made a mistake, early 1960 cars had the handbrake lever on the right side of the gear tunnel, so this one must be a late 1960/61body
(difference between left and right not always easy :-)

Nick this car is definitely a Aug 1958 car , body ,chassis and original engine all match to a build date of Aug 1958.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
