Auction description:
Collectors' Motor Cars & Automobilia(#73MG) 18/10/2015
Lot 74 of 377:
1958 JAGUAR XK150 FHC
Estimate: $140,000 - $160,000 unsold
Chassis No: S824719DN
Engine No: V6064/8
Body No: J9619

This beautifully restored factory RHD XK150 was despatched on 15 December 1958 to distributor Sagers of Salisbury and Bulawayo, (Southern) Rhodesia and sold new on 30 January 1959 to Mr A.G. King of Northern Rhodesia. Documentation supports it being owned in 1980 by Ross Burgess of Launceston, Australia and sold to Rob Rowland in Victoria. In 1984 it was sold again at which point the car was reported to be in very original condition. The current owner acquired the car in 1989. The car has undergone a concourse standard restoration commencing in 2000 and finished in February 2015 by the highly respected Geoff Leake Restorations (the two missing rear over-riders missing are ordered and will accompany the car). Originally in cream livery with biscuit interior the elegance of this car is now reflected in midnight blue with pale grey interior trim providing a superb acquisition for the discerning collector.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
