--British Racing Green with Green leather interior and Black cloth top, 4-speed Moss gearbox, Chrome wire wheels, Cosmetically restored approximately five years ago by a well-known Northeast restoration specialists Automotive Restorations, approximately with approximately 2,000 miles since. As per the previous owner… “I had the engine rebuilt. Rebored, over size pistons etc by a local race shop near one of my plants. I did a lot of the reassembly and detail work myself and had the head rebuilt and fitted and the engine tuned by Automotive Restorations. The engine is in good operating condition as are the other components that were checked out. I was trained as an engineering apprentice at Rolls-Royce and spent my summers with the Jaguar racing team. The era of the, C Type and D Type, Wally Hassan and Lofty England. Mike Lyons and I raced a XK 140MC in sports club races. That''''s why I bought this car and refurbished it as it is an exact replica of my first new car at that time!” This XK-140, serial # S817825DN has just been serviced, it is in exceptional condition throughout and ready for immediate use.

Purchased this car and it is exceptional. I had the brakes completely rebuilt and added an aluminum radiator and supplemental fan. It drives great and all components work well especially the electric overdrive. The hood is perfect and I added new suede green colored floor mats. This car is not far from concourse with a few slight modifications (convenience type things that can be removed). Overall one of the very best XK 140's around that can be driven.

    2010-05-29 21:12:45 | Tom writes:

This is a special Jaguar with the C type head along with the electric overdrive. It is concourse except for the retractable antenna and the special cooling additions which makes driving this car remarkable. The radio can be removed as well as the antenna and the original radiator remains with the car.

    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-140-DHC-MC-Fully-Restored-Heritage-Certificate ...
Current bid $51,100 reserve not met 12 bids 5 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
    1957 Drop Head Coupe
    Special Equipment Model

Complete with Heritage Trust Certificate Documenting the authenticity of this XK 140 is a Heritage Trust certificate that confirms that the car was built in September 1955 as:

    · A Special Equipment model

    · A left-hand drive car

    · Black/Red/Black color combination (changed during restoration)

    · Overdrive transmission

Also, the Heritage certificate confirms that the engine, body and gearbox are all original to the car. In short, it is a true numbers-matching Jaguar.

Our '57 Jaguar XK 140--an Excellent Example

Although we didn't restore this car, it is one of the nicest examples of the 140 series we have seen short of national show winners. Everything about the car shows quality workmanship from the paint/chrome to the interior to the top. This XK 140 can be either a most prestigious car to drive or a competitive car to show. Nothing has been overlooked--from engine bay to trunk--in preparation for any kind of competitive event in which this car may be entered.

    Excellent Cosmetics

    · Exterior
The car was restored in British Racing Green with an exceptional finish that looks virtually new. The only minor flaws we noted were one small scratch on the left front fender and a very small paint stress crack on either side of the cowl. During our customer's ownership, the car has been garaged in a temperature-controlled facility surrounded by other high-value vehicles.

The chrome and trim are in excellent condition. Similarly, the windshield and windows look and work as new. This car is fitted with Michelin X 185 R 16 tires mounted on chrome wire wheels that accentuate the rich look of the car's exterior.

The black cloth convertible top is in excellent condition and fits properly. The headliner is likewise like new. The top boot fits properly and, again, looks brand new.

    · Interior
The interior is finished in light green leather that is in excellent condition and makes for a wonderful contrast with the BRG exterior. The carpeting and door panels are all in top condition as well.

The walnut-veneered dashboard and door caps are finished like fine furniture and add a note of richness not present in the roadster OTS. The XK 140 also provides considerably more legroom than the XK 120 and is simply a better and more comfortable car to drive.

    Mechanicals
    · Engine

This 140 DHC is the Special Equipment model that is equipped with the "C-type" head and the engine generates 210 hp. The DOHC engine is fed by twin 1.75 SUs, as original. The engine runs properly, through all points of its power curve, making for exciting acceleration and a great driving experience.

    · Transmission

The 4-speed synchromesh transmission with overdrive shifts smoothly through each gear, and the synchromesh system works properly on downshifts. This is a car that is fun to drive, whether going hard on a curvy mountain road or cruising in less challenging conditions.

    And a Complete Tool Kit

As part of its preparation for participation in national concourse events, this car has a fully detailed engine compartment and a trunk that looks as new. Rounding out the car's judging credentials, it comes with manuals and a complete tool kit.

    Safety Equipment & Entertainment
Naturally all of the safety equipment (lights, signals, wipers, horn) works properly, as do all of the gauges with the exception of the clock which registers the correct time only twice a day--but this is a car that looks as if time stood still since it left the factory. The car has a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo system as well, which can be easily removed should you so desire.

They Don't get ANY Nicer If you have always wanted a XK 140 DHC but haven't yet found one that meets your standards, this BRG, Heritage Trust certified Drop Head looks like a Jaguar should look, runs like a Jaguar should run and sounds like a Jaguar should sound.
