Additional auction description:
Chassis no. S817703 Engine no. G4593-8S
This U.S. specified left-hand drive XK140MC had already been restored by its previous owner when acquired by Robert Hood in January 1991. The car is equipped with an after-market air conditioner and automatic transmission, the latter possibly a non-original fitment, though an auto ‘box was an official XK140 option. Finished in red with tan leather interior, the car displays a total of 58,461 miles on the odometer and is offered with toolkit and State of California title deed. $ 28,000 - 32,000 Without Reserve

Sellers description:
I am listing this1956 Jaguar for my father. Great running car and great fun to drive. If you look at the photos below you will get more info about the car. The pic that describes the car came with the car when my dad bought it and was from an auction in the 70's. My dad bought the car about 5yrs ago.and has put on 6000 miles. Has won several trophies at local car shows. It has been through several grandchildren proms(without incident). Always kept in a warm garage and is has not been driven in the winter. For the sake of collectors the numbers do not match.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
