Lot #202048
This 1956 Jaguar XK140 fixed-head coupe was refurbished before being acquired by the current owner in 2016, and it was subsequently modified with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, electric power steering, air conditioning, electronic ignition, and an aluminum radiator. The car was used by the owner to tour Japan before being shipped back to the US, and it is finished in Maroon over Biscuit leather. Power is from a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six, and equipment includes 16″ wire wheels, Lucas fog lights, wood interior trim, and a Moto-Lita steering wheel. This XK140 is now offered on dealer consignment with a California title, listing it as a 1957 model year.
The car is finished in Maroon and was repainted under prior ownership. Features include a split windshield, front vent windows, Lucas fog lights, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers. The trunk area and floor were repaired following an accident in 2020, and the tailpipes and mounts were replaced at that time. A ceramic coating was applied to the paint in 2022. The photographs were taken in 2024.
The 16″ wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein tires measuring 185HR16. A spare is stored under the trunk floor, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. EZ power steering was installed under current ownership, and work in 2017 involved replacing the upper and lower ball joints as well as the front shocks. The brake master cylinder was rebuilt in 2024.
The adjustable seats are trimmed in Biscuit leather, and replacement carpets were installed in 2017. Air conditioning and three-point seat belts have been added, and a fire extinguisher is mounted on the transmission tunnel.
The four-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles, several thousand of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer was repaired and re-calibrated in 2017.
The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six was installed some time ago, and it features an aluminum radiator, electronic ignition, and a negative-ground alternator.
A Tremec five-speed manual transmission was installed in 2017, and a replacement clutch kit was fitted in 2019.
