    Above auction description:

The Jaguar XK 140 FHC (Fixed Head Coupé) released for auction here is a USA import that comes from Monterey (California) and was first registered in 1956. This partially restored Jaguar - which according to the seller only has 2 owners - has the chassis number S815049DN. The car does not currently have a valid MOT, but according to the seller it already has an H registration and the vehicle also has matching numbers. A checkbook is not available, the mileage can be partially traced after consultation with the seller.

    Exterior colour/paint/body:

Visually, this Jaguar XK 140 is presented in rich red: the seller mentions that the body has been completely repainted and is in good condition. All chrome parts on the exterior still shine as they should, and no major modifications can be found that deviate from the original condition, and the seller can confirm that the car has been free of accidents. A chrome luggage rack is shown mounted on the boot lid of this XK. Please see the additional photos and videos for more details.

    Interior:

The leather seats, door panels and footwell carpet in the interior of the Jaguar are beige in color - the classic dashboard is in dark wood. In addition to a Moto-Lita 3-spoke wooden steering wheel, parts of the door panels are also lined with wood. A hole can be seen in the headliner - otherwise the interior is in a neat and well-preserved overall condition.

    Mileage:

The speedometer of this XK 140 has five digits - the seller mentions that there is a total mileage of 142,200 and that there is a partially traceable history. All instruments function without problems.

    Engine:

The 3.4 liter in-line six-cylinder engine in this Jaguar XK 140 delivers 209 hp - the power of the 6 cylinders is transmitted to the rear axle via a 4-speed manual gearbox. The last service was in 2022. According to the current owner, recent work includes replacing the battery and wiring harness, overhauling the steering and carburettor, and overhauling the engine.

    Underbody:

Considering the vehicle's age of 67 years, the condition of the underside is very good. The seller states that welding work has already taken place here. Only around 2,800 of the XK 140 FHC (Fixed Head Coupé) were made. It's not just the silhouette of this XK from the 1950s that impresses - the high-capacity in-line six-cylinder plus the sporty yet comfortable manners of the Jaguar also inspire. This XK 140 has been overhauled and renewed over the years, so that it will now give the future owner a lot of pleasure in its beautiful color combination.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
