Ebay item 6/25/10 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-140MC-1957-JAGUAR-XK140MC-COUPE-/400131396821
Opening bid $29,000, no reserve no bids yet 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This is a 1957 XK140MC coupe that has factory overdrive. This car is the rare MC version. This car is not numbers matching. When this car was purchased by its current owner in 2006 it did not come with an engine or gearbox. Soon after the current owner purchased they found an authentic xk140mc engine block for sale so they purchased it. Then I located an authentic MC Cylinder head and purchased that as well. An authentic xk140 gearbox was located and purchased, this is the correct type of gearbox that has the original overdrive like this 140mc coupe came with from the factory, and as an extra bonus the gearbox that was found also is a rare close ratio gearbox. The chassis and body are original to this Jaguar xk140mc coupe. This Jaguar has its original data plate. The data plate numbers are as follows. Chassis number: s814905 engine number: g5426-8s body number: j5343 gearbox number: jl32250 This cars original color combination was pearl grey with red interior. This Jaguar comes with a clear Florida title and a Jaguar Daimler Trust Heritage Certificate. The owner purchased this car as a restoration project. The body of this car was solid, however the door sills and the interior floors were replaced as well as the D posts and the rear trunk was replaced with new factory panels. The front fenders also had metal work done to them on the bottom sections. All this work was done by a professional restoration shop in 2008. The front of this Jaguar also had metal work done to it.
The doors are in great shape and have been fitted to this car and have the door lock mechanisms work and the doors open and close nicely. The rear deck lid is also in good shape and it has new lock mechanisms installed and it latches closed. The front bonnet is also in great shape and it latches closed. This car is currently painted with grey epoxy primer. The owner is selling this car with the entire exterior metal weld lines covered with a skim coat of bondo. This work will be done by this auctions end, and those areas will be re-primed again. The chassis has been completely redone to show standards. The chassis of this Jaguar was solid when the car was purchased. The current owner had a professional restoration shop sandblast the chassis and then they painted it gloss black with clear coat. The chassis is in show quality. All of the mechanical componets were replaced on the chassis. 4 new Dayton 60 spoke wire wheels were installed as well as 4 new bias tires. Even stainless steel exhaust was put on. The engine and gearbox were professionally rebuilt in 2009. Included in this listing is a video/audio of this Jaguar running. The cylinder head is super quite. The valve adjustment was done perfectly. The carburetors were also professionally rebuilt. The starter and the generator were rebuilt, and the radiator was recorded. The gearbox had a new clutch kit installed, as well as a new overdrive solenoid. All of the aluminum parts on the engine were polished to show standards. The body is currently bolted down to the chassis with the aluminum spacers. The ride height was also set. As you will see from all the pictures showing the restoration this car was done correctly and to a high standard. The window regulators and lock mechanisms for the doors have been refurbished and work like new. The brakes currently work on this car as well as the clutch. The pedal is also installed so this car can drive now. This car comes with new front windshield glass, as well as new door window glass. And an original rear window glass with the factory chrome that surrounds it. The rear bumpers have been re-chromed and the front and rear bumperettes have been re-chromed as well to show standards. This car does not come with a front bumper, but the current owner will give the winning bidder info on where one is at. Also in the picture section you will see all the pictures of the parts that come with this Jaguar. I’m going to tell you the parts that are missing. Wiring harness, front bumper, front windshield chrome surrounds. Front headlights, front turn signal chrome light housings and lenses, and this car does not come with the metal seat backs, or interior seats. Misc interior chrome window cranks. This car has all of its gauges and the oil temp gauge was professionally rebuilt. The current owner has priced this Jaguar to sell so please take advantage of this no reserve auction. Priced to sell with over $80,000 invested, will include restoration receipts.
