    Car is now offered at:
    www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C246384

    Sellers description:
This is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a completely unrestored matching numbers Jaguar XK140 SE configured to the ultimate specification with factory fitted C-Type head. Unused since the early 1970s, chassis S814545 is a left-hand drive Fixed-Head Coupe manufactured in June 1955 and finished in one of the most desirable colour combinations available, Black with a Beige interior.

The SE package included a dual exhaust, wire wheels, windscreen washers, twin fogs and upgraded boot trim but not all export models got the C-Type cylinder heads that were good for an additional 20bhp (taking overall output to 210bhp) making this a particularly rare derivative.

Showing a believed genuine 16,000 miles from new, there can be few examples with such a degree of originality remaining. Thanks to being laid up for so long ago in the dry heat of California, S814545 is in remarkably sound condition, its body and chassis requiring little more than stripping back and refinishing. The original engine (number G4422-8S) has internals commensurate of a car with such a low mileage whilst the interior has all the original equipment but will require re-trimming.

At our showroom in Ringwood, Hampshire. Price: £20995 As stated

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
