1955 JAGUAR XK 140 SE FIXED HEAD COUPE. I HAVE OWNED THIS JAG SINCE 2002 AND HAVE DONE MOST OF THE RESTORATION WORK MYSELF. THIS CAR HAD LOTS OF RUST IN THE REAR BODY SECTION. ALL THE REAR SHEET METAL HAS BEEN REPLACED, INCLUDING REAR INNER AND OUTER FENDERS. NEW FLOORS, SILLS, AND SHUT PANELS. ALSO NEW BATTERY BOXES, (RIGHT AND LEFT) AND THIER DOORS. THE BODY WAS REMOVED. ALL FRONT SUSPENSION WAS REBUILT. NEW UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS, ALL NEW UPPER AND LOWER A-FRAME BUSHINGS. NEW MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS. ALL THE BRAKES WERE REBUILT WITH NEW WHEEL CYLINDER KITS, NEW SHOES AND DRUMS TURNED. ALL NEW STAINLESS STEEL LINES AND NEW RUBBER HOSES. THE BRAKES WORK GREAT. NEW KONI SHOCKS ON REAR AND NEW GURLING SHOCKS ON FRONT. NEW REAR SPRINGS. ALL NEW RUBBER MUD SHIELDS. GAS TANK WAS CLEANED AND NEW LINES. THE ENGINE IS AS IT WAS WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. I HAD THE PORCELAIN REPLACED ON THE EXHAUST HEADERS, AND REPLACED THE EXHAUST WITH NEW STAINLESS STEEL DUEL EXHAUST. THE ENGINE STARTS AND SOUNDS GOOD, AND DOES NOT SMOKE. I HAD THE RADIATOR RECORED.THE RADIATOR HOSES AND HEATER HOSES HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW ONES THIS CAR IS A 4 SPEED WITH OVERDRIVE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE OVERDRIVE WORKS. THE CAR HAS NO WIRING HARNESS. I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THIS BEAUTY AROUND THE SUBDIVISION WHERE I LIVE. ALL THE GEARS SHIFT GOOD WITH NO NOISE. MOST OF THE CHROME ON THE CAR IS REPLATED OR NEW. I HAVE THE CHROME FOR THE REAR BACK GLASS ( RECHROMED). I CAN'T GET IT BACK ON THE CAR. ALL THE RUBBER IS NEW, INCLUDING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND REAR GLASS. ALSO NEW DOOR WINDOW FELT. SEAT LEATHER IS VERY SOFT. WOOD INSIDE IS EXCELLENT. NEW HEADLINER. OIL TEMP. GAUGE AND TACH WORKS. SPEEDO IS NOT WORKING. THE REST OF THE GAUGES ARE ELECTRIC AND WITHOUT WIRING WILL NOT WORK. THIS CAR NEEDS A COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS. THIS CAR ALSO NEEDS TO BE PAINTED. IT HAS ONE LIGHT COAT OF LAQUER. THERE MAY BE A FEW SPOTS THAT NEED SOME WORK. ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID. RESTORED XK140 SPECIAL EQUIPMENT MODEL COUPE. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED AND RESTORATION WAS DONE OVER SEVERAL YEARS. THE CHROME IS EXCELLENT THROUGHOUT. THE NEW TAN LEATHER INTERIOR IS BEAUTIFUL. VERY NICE WOOD AND DETAIL IN THE INTERIOR. THE FOUR SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS OVERDRIVE. THE ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBER "S" OPTION ENGINE STARTS EASILY AND PURRS LIKE A KITTEN. IT RUNS VERY GOOD AND IS IN PERFECT TUNE. THE EXTERIOR HAS A LIGHT GUIDE COAT OVER A FINISHED, NO RUST BODY. THE CAR ONLY NEEDS PAINT TO COMPLETE THE RESTORATION. THE ORIGINAL COLOR IS CANTERBURY GRAY. THIS CAR DRIVES VERY GOOD. THE WIRING WAS REPLACED DURING THE RESTORATION AND THE ELECTRICS, WIPERS, CHARGING SYSTEM, GAUGES ETC ARE ALL IN WORKING ORDER. THE CHROME TRIM PIECE AROUND THE REAR WINDOW NEEDS BE INSTALLED. I THINK THAT THE WINDOW TRIM PIECE IS THE ONLY PART THAT NEEDS TO BE PURCHASED FOR THIS CAR. PAINT IT AND INSTALL THAT BIT OF TRIM AND YOU SHOULD BE DONE.

This Jaguar XK 140 Fixed Head Coupe SE with manual gearbox and overdrive has just arrived at our place in the Netherlands. The Jaguar has chassis number: S814137DN.

Although the former owner, the car has been completely dissambled and restored over several years. The chromework is excellent throughout. The interior is very nice even as the woodwork. The interior has been restored very well with a superb eye for small details.

There is one small detail which is not done, the car is not painted yet. It is very nice to keep the car as it is right now but also a great opportunity to bring the Jaguar in the colour one likes.

If we look at the chassis number, we can conclude that because of the S, the car is an SE specification car which means that it is newly delivered with chrome wire wheels, 2 fog lamps and the much admired C-type engine head which produces 210 instead of 190 horsepower. The 814 number shows that this is an original left hand drive 3.4 litre 6 cylinder example and the final DN letters show that this example was born with an overdrive! So this is the best possible specification for a Jaguar XK 140 Fixed Head Coupe.

The former owner has spend enormous amounts of money in this car to bring it to its current condition. Much more then the price we ask now.

This specific example of the Jaguar XK is eligible for the greatest road race in the world, the Mille Miglia.
