You might be interested that my XK140MC OTS is only 17 units later than
yours. Mine was manufactured in September 1956 and was imported through New
York, although it has been licensed in California since at least 1962.

Your gearbox number is likely a close ratio gearbox, which would have a "CR"
code after the number. I also have the CR box with overdrive and enjoy the
combination very much.

I purchased the car in Jun 1977. When purchased, the car was a nice driver, but it was far from original condition. Since then, I have completed a frame-off restoration to concours condition. It scored 100 points at it's first JCNA concours after restoration. Since then it has always scored first in class at local JCNA meets.

This 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC Roadster is finished in blue over a gray interior and powered by a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 16″ knock-off wire wheels, a black soft top, a dual exhaust system, and dual SU carburetors. The car was reportedly refurbished following its acquisition by the current owner’s spouse approximately 25 years ago and was acquired by the owner in 2022. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have consisted of replacing the thermostat and draining the fuel tank. This XK140 MC is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a tool kit, a dealer booklet, and a clean California title.

The car was finished from the factory in black and was repainted blue during the refurbishment. Exterior details include a black soft top, fender-mounted mirrors, Lucas driving lights, chrome-finished bumpers and trim, and dual exhausts.

The 16″ wire wheels wear knock-off spinners and 6.00-16 Dunlop Road Speed RS5 tires that show cracking. A jack and a full-size spare are stored in the trunk. The car is equipped with four-wheel drum brakes, a front stabilizer bar, and rear leaf springs with covers.

The interior was factory-trimmed in red and has been reupholstered in gray with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Features include carpeted floor mats, door pockets, a bright-finished emergency brake handle, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 139 miles, though total mileage is unknown. The ammeter needle fluctuates.

The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six was installed under previous ownership and is equipped with a C-Type cylinder head, dual SU carburetors, a Lucas ignition coil, and a dual exhaust system. Work performed in preparation for the sale reportedly included replacing the thermostat and draining the fuel tank.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transmission and an overdrive unit that is controlled by a switch on the dashboard.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, chassis and powertrain numbers, and a manufacture date of September 13, 1956. A tool kit and a dealer/distributor booklet are also included in the sale.
