This 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster is a running project that is said to have been purchased by the seller’s late father in 1966 and has remained in the family since. The car is finished in red over matching leather and is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a white soft top, 16″ knock-off wire wheels, dual SU carburetors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This XK140 project is now offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate with a replacement soft top and an Illinois title in the name of the estate.
The exterior is finished in red and features a white soft top, a two-piece windshield, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The left-rear bumperette is bent, there are cracked and missing lenses, and the bodywork under the grille is rusted. The soft top is discolored and a replacement top is included in the sale.
Silver-finished 16″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Coker Classic tires. Service completed since 2017 is said to include the replacement of brake components.
The cabin features seats trimmed in red leather along with a color-matching dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes a passenger grab handle, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, and a plaque affixed to the dash commemorating Jaguar’s record-breaking top-speed run. The upholstery and carpets show wear, and there is a hole in the driver’s seat. Corrosion is visible in the door jambs.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. There are cracks in the steering wheel. The speedometer and tachometer cables were replaced in 2019. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with twin SU carburetors and a C-Type cylinder head that features dual-overhead camshafts. Service completed since 2017 reportedly includes the replacement of the fuel tank and ignition system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Exhaust system components were replaced in 2020.
The Illinois title lists the car as a 1956 model year. The car is being offered by the seller on behalf of an estate.

This 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster is a non-running project that was purchased by the previous owner’s father in 1966 and is said to have spent years in Texas before being purchased by the current owner on BaT in November 2022. The vehicle was subsequently dismantled by the seller in May 2025 in preparation for body work, frame repair, an engine rebuild, and general restoration. The body has been media-blasted and painted in primer, the suspension is fitted to the frame, and the car can be rolled on its wheels. Equipment includes a 3.4-liter inline-six, a four-speed manual transmission, dual SU carburetors, 16″ wire wheels, and red-upholstered seats. This XK140 OTS project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with spare and removed parts, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title in the owner’s name that lists the model year as 1956.
Finished from the factory in Maroon, the body was disassembled, stripped, and media-blasted in early 2025 before being finished in gray primer. Prior accident damage was noted when the car was stripped.

Seats and other trim upholstered in red are depicted in the gallery, as are Smiths gauges and other interior components.
The 3.4-liter inline-six has been disassembled and is accompanied by removed twin SU carburetors and a C-type cylinder head. The seller notes that the crankshaft has been ground to .010″ and the engine block has been cleaned The removed four-speed manual transmission is included in the sale. Exhaust-system components were replaced in 2020.
The Production Record Trace certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust shows a build date of April 18, 1955, and lists original colors, equipment, engine number, and distribution through Max Hoffman of New York.
The California title lists the car’s model year as 1956.
