    Auction description:
This 1956 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe is a numbers-matching example that was purchased by the seller's father in the mid 1990s. The Jaguar Heritage certificate shows 815279 was sold new in Vancouver where it has remained since. The seller's father restored the car shortly after acquiring it and drove it frequently, to the golf club and sometimes to work. The car wears an older repaint in British Racing Green rather than the original Pastel Green, and it is said to run and drive-well following a recent brake service. The car is sold with a clean British Columbia title in the seller's name.

The car sports a set of color-matched steel wheels and hubcaps over whitewall tires. Cars fitted with steel wheels wore rear wheel spats from the factory, and a correct restored set are included with this car. This car is also fitted with an optional dual exhaust.

The repaint was completed in the late 90s and paint and brightwork appear to be in decent cosmetic condition, though some bubbling is noted around the front and rear window openings as well as on the edges of the hood. There are chips and scratches around the body.

The seats, carpet, headliners, and door panels were all replaced during the restoration. Wood surfaces appear well finished and were redone by Karen Trickett of Fine Woodworks. A well-matched aftermarket steering wheel and shift knob are present, and the original wheel is also included. The original dash clock is said to be working correctly and the original Motorola radio is included, though not installed. Non-original lap belts have been fitted.

The car was recently put back on the road after sitting for a couple years. All repairs have been done by british car specialists Octagon Motors and Sovereign Motors in Vancouver using OEM parts. The brake system was recently serviced, and the cooling system was re-done in 2013. A folder of maintenance records from the last 20 years is included.

The factory data plate and heritage certificate show this car, chassis 815279, is fitted with its original engine engine G6380-8, stamping above.

This looks like a good XK140 driver that can be used for rallies or local shows. The new owner can slowly bring it to the next level while adding miles.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
