This 1953 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand-drive Fixed Head Coupe that was sold new in the US and later spent time in the UK before being re-imported in 1990. Finished in red over beige leather upholstery, the car was acquired by the seller in 1996, and subsequent work involved rebuilding the replacement 3.4-liter inline-six, overhauling the four-speed manual transmission, and installing an aluminum radiator. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, driving lights, 16” knock-off wire wheels, burl wood trim, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and Smiths instrumentation. This XK120 is now offered with a workshop manual, service records under current ownership, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in red under prior ownership and features a split windshield, driving lights, fender-mounted side mirrors, and split chrome bumpers. The right front turn signal lens is cracked, and paint chips and blemishes around the car are shown up close in the gallery along with deteriorated window seals.
Body-color 16” knock-off wire wheels wear chrome two-eared spinners and are mounted with 185-series Avon Turbosteel tires. A matching spare wheel is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.
The cabin is trimmed in beige leather, and burl wood trim adorns the dashboard, upper door panels, and window frames. Lap belts have been added as well as a battery cutoff switch and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo connected to speakers mounted in the kick panels and parcel shelf. Bound carpets line the floors and cargo area, and discoloration on the interior surfaces can be viewed in the gallery along with wear on the driver’s seat and scuffed paint on the sills.
The steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of an inoperative speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was installed under prior ownership and rebuilt shortly after the seller’s acquisition. It is equipped with dual SU carburetors, and an aluminum radiator fabricated by Ron Davis Racing Products of Glendale, Arizona, was installed in 2018.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled in 2003. The rear differential was replaced at that time.
A workshop manual will accompany the car along with a parts catalog and service records dating to 1997.
