This 1953 Jaguar XK120 is a Fixed Head Coupe that was built on May 7, 1953 and delivered new via Hornburg Jaguar of Los Angeles, California. The car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Suede Green over matching leather. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a split front windshield, chrome bumpers and bumperettes, 16″ steel wheels with hubcaps and bright trim rings, rear fender skirts, burl wood trim, lap belts, and Smiths gauges. The car previously participated in the California Mille and was acquired by the current owner in 2023. This XK120 Fixed Head Coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, prior JCNA judging sheets, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car came finished from the factory in Suede Green and received a two-stage repaint in 1989 following dent repairs, while one of the fender skirts was repaired and repainted in 1995. Exterior equipment includes a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, and a polished exhaust outlet. The seller notes cracks on top of the left front fender and other imperfections in the paint.
The 16″ steel wheels with hubcaps and bright trim rings are mounted with older Columbia Deluxe tires that should be replaced. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums.
The cabin features bucket seats with Suede Green leather upholstery complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include burl wood trim, lap belts, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. The seller notes that the carpets are worn.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 160 horsepower.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, which was rebuilt in 1999. Various oil leaks are noted.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers.
