Condition Project
Complete matching numbers 1953 Jaguar XK120 Coupe, with original data plate (chassis # 680964, engine # W7866-8, body # J2972, gearbox # JL15930). Titled by engine number; the file includes title copies for the two prior owners going back to 1996. A bare-frame ground-up restoration was partially completed about a dozen years ago on a correct damage-free car. The car was then re-assembled, except for the interior, which had been removed for the body restoration (see photos 1-16, as the car stands today). Work performed included restoration of the chassis, frame, and running gear, full engine overhaul, body stripped and prepped, painted, and brightwork replated (see photos 17-25 for examples of restoration work done then; I have many more). All parts are present and included, with plated parts restored, as shown in photos (see photos 26-35). Completion will require installation of a full interior leather set and carpet, reconditioning of dash and instruments, final assembly, and fettling. (Incidentally, I have a complete replacement interior leather kit for an XK140 coupe, which is not compatible for this XK120 project, but can be bought separately if useful to the buyer.) I am a private enthusiast who accepted this beautiful coupe about a decade ago in part-trade on an important vintage RR, expecting to complete the restoration myself. Since it remains in the queue behind other priorities, I have decided to let the project go to someone with fresh enthusiasm. The restoration work has been done to a high standard and equal attention to getting things right should result in an outstanding finish.
ASKING PRICE $49,500
