This is not a body number. It could however be an engine number F 1891-8 but
its a little early to be a matching number

Great photos of an obviously well used and loved 120. Well done.

Thanks Peter. I don't have access to the dataplate, so can't confirm the numbers. The car is located in Vermont and I'm in Washington state, I have some calls into the shop where it is located so I can confirm these numbers and get the rest of the dataplate info too. The (State of Texas) Title has the "F18918" number listed, which I know is NOT the VIN.

The car belongs to my father and is currently for sale. I'd like to get that data before it changes hands.

Yes Len... we did use and love it, but my dad's decided to sell his collection of old cars, this being the first one to go. I'll miss it because it is *so* FUN to drive. I like to say it is "like driving a HIGH PERFORMANCE tractor!" ... as it has that wonderful grunt of the XK engine, but has nowhere near the refined suspension of my E-type (1E10715).

This car is a reliable driver, not a trailer queen. It was purchased by the current
owner in late 1999 and restored cosmetically and mechanically to participate in
vintage car rallies. Originally suede green, it was repainted British Racing Green.
A new biscuit (light tan) leather interior and carpet were installed. At that time a
new beige top and tonneau cover were installed, as well as new side curtains.
Underhood and trunk were not detailed. During the restoration a new XK 140
front suspension replaced the original unit. An aluminum radiator with electric fan
were added to eliminate possible overheating problems. The car is a disc wheel car
with spats and sports Avon steel belted radial tires. This Jaguar looks and runs as well
as the day it came out of restoration, and is more comfortable to drive for long
distances since much work has since been done on the upholstery and the controls
to make it more ergonomic. Lights, dials, brakes, etc are all operative.
    True mileage is unknown.

do you have a bay it know price?

    2007-04-12 01:25:54 | chuck goolsbee writes:

No. No "BIN" as my father opted not to go that way. The current price, as of 4/11 is VERY close to the reserve, so I have no doubt that it will sell.
