Auction description:
Vintage Motor Cars at Amelia Island
12 March 2005
Lot 035
1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Sold for $111,100
Chassis no. W89598
Three Time JCNA National Champion and The Amelia Award Winning
160hp 3,442 cc twin overhead cam, inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, torsion bar independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 102"
We are delighted to offer one of the finest examples of the storied XK 120 model line that we have seen in some time. Finished with a proper white exterior and two-tone red and tan interior with an original 62,900 miles showing on the odometer the Jaguar is simply stunning. The recipient of a comprehensive body-off restoration completed by the respected father and son team of Tom Palisi and Tom Palisi Jr., upon inspection one will see this XK 120 is peerless in its presentation. We are told that there was particular attention paid to detail and authenticity, as they wanted the car to be shown at numerous concours events across the country and for many years after the restoration.
Notably, this lovely example built in 1953 was sold and titled as a 1954 model, and has remained with the same owner since 1958. During the 1960s the car competed in JCNA (Jaguar Club of North America) track competition events held at Lime Rock Park and Bridgehampton, and we are told won the distinguished title of Best Performing Jaguar in 1967. This car has also been entered in many concours events, receiving a string of 100 point scores. It is a three time JCNA National Champion and was the winner of the 50th anniversary XK 120 event in 1998. It also has the distinguished history of winning many non-JCNA events that have included The Amelia Award at the Amelia Island Concours in 2002, Best of Show at the 2003 Festival of Exotic Cars, Mount Dora, Florida and the Best Sports Car Award, 2003-2004 Wheels Artists and Automobiles at Dunedin, Florida.
From the history it is obvious that this is a superb example XK 120, and will undoubtedly be an exquisite addition to any collection.

Additional description from above auction:
Lot 019
Pebble Beach 2015
This roadster was sold by Max Hoffman in 1953 and acquired from its first owner by the Palisi family in 1958. They competed with the XK120 at JCNA Empire Division events in the 1960s, winning best-performing Jaguar at the Lime Rock Park time trials in 1967. A restoration by Tom Palisi Sr. and Jr. led to three JCNA National Championships, victory at the 1998 50th anniversary XK120 event, Best of Show at the South Florida Jaguar Club in 2006, the 2002 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Amelia Award, Best of Show at the 2003 Festival of Exotic Cars at Mount Dora, and Best Sports Car at Dunedin in 2003-2004.
Upon acquiring this XK120 in 2005, the consignor directed Vantage Motors in Stamford, Connecticut, to attend to anything necessary. The documented overhaul totaled $22,319. Showing 64,089 miles, this roadster comes with a JDHT Certificate, manuals, tools, unused side screens, and a soft top. This Jaguar XK120 is ready to be enjoyed on the concours circuit or open road.
