Car to be at auction 12/10
www.historics.co.uk/buying/online-catalogue/1952-jag-xk120-r%27ster.aspx
Auction description:
Auction Date: 04 December 2010
Lot - 1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
* Registration: OSU 193
* Chassis Number: 673251
* Engine Number: 673251
* Odometer reading: 39,000
* Estimate: £50,000 - £60,000
OSU 193 is an American car from new, though it's been in the UK for the past20 years, and in its current ownership since 1996. Since this time the vendor has travelled just 300 miles. When not being used, the car has been kept in a cocoon in one of his garages. Despite the low miles that have been driven, the owner has not scrimped on this car. The engine was the subject of a complete refurbishment at Guy Broad in Coventry just two years ago. The cost according to its owner, the princely sum of £6,000.
Offered in original and attractive Fern Green bodywork with matching Green interior, the car sits on the rarer steel wheels with rear spats and looks the part with her American whitewall tyres. The car is not an over restored trailer queen; indeed it has a wonderful, original patina that we think adds rather than detracts to the cars appeal. The car does have certain signs of age, but is very solid underneath and is not dealing with any rust issues. This is likely in part due to the cars history of being a Californian import from new. We suspect that the great majority of the cars paintwork is original and as such it is starting to show its age in places. The chrome in certain places is getting ready for some attention which is expected of a car which is beginning to show signs of 50 plus years of life. All these factors are relatively minor and are something that can be done if and when one desired.
Importantly, the car is mechanically very solid. It has just passed her latest MoT test certificate and as only 30 miles have been covered since the previous one, the owner suggests perhaps it's time for the car to pass on for the next owner to enjoy. Most recently the car has had a new exhaust fitted by Guy Broad, who, as previously mentioned is also responsible for the engine refurbishment. The chassis and underside are very solid and Guy Broad commented on the cars overall sound condition.
This is a nicely patinated example of a very well respected 1950's motor car ready for use as an historic rally car, or driving the lanes on sunny Sundays. If one were so inclined, OSU 193 is also an ideal candidate for a rolling restoration to become a concours contender. Supplied with UK V5C registration certificate, this excellent XK120 Roadster can be driven away from the auction by the successful bidder.

Lot 129 - 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
129 - 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Estimate: £48,000 - £55,000
Registration Number: OSU 193
Chassis Number: 673251
This fabulous XK120 Roadster was bought by its current owner in June 1996. In his ownership OSU 193 has only covered 3,000 miles, spending the majority of its life in a Carcoon in one of the vendor's garages.
According to the owner, OSU 193 displays a wonderful, original patina, and is finished in the stunning, period shade of Fern Green. OSU 193 was the recent subject of an engine refurbishment at Guy Broads in Coventry at the cost of £6,000. This ex- Californian car has just passed its latest MoT, having only covered 30 miles since the previous one. OSU 193 comes complete with a UK V5 and a history file.
This is a fine opportunity to acquire a fine car which played its part in creating the legend that has become Jaguar Cars; a perfect car for continental touring, to be used and enjoyed.
